Android phones have been leading the charge in innovative features and standards, being the first to support 4G, 5G, USB-C, and wireless charging. However, when it came to adopting the Qi2 wireless charging standard, Android phone makers were slow to react. Despite the convenience and popularity of MagSafe accessories on iPhones, only one Android phone, the HMD Skyline, supports Qi2. This reluctance to adopt a standard that could greatly improve user experience raises the question of why Android manufacturers are dragging their feet on implementing this technology. Will we see more Android phones supporting Qi2 in the future, or will this promising standard be left behind?
